Changes in signing in with Smart-ID and Mobile-ID
The possibility to sign in to eKool using Smart-ID and Mobile-ID will soon disappear. In the future, these methods will only be available when registering a new account.
The adjustment to the login options is not a reflection on the security of Smart-ID or Mobile-ID. Both remain secure and widely recognized for their robust multi-factor authentication capabilities. To ensure continued access for all users, Smart-ID and Mobile-ID will still be available through HarID. This integration aims to maintain high security standards while streamlining account management processes.
Our primary objective in this transition is to encourage users to validate their eKool accounts with native login methods, including an email/password combination with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. This step is crucial for enhancing account security and ensuring that all users have verified contact information, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized access and outdated user data.
As part of our commitment to providing accessible and convenient login options for all our users, including those who may not use Smart-ID or Mobile-ID, we are planning to introduce additional login methods. Once we have a significant number of users with validated account data, we will start offering the ability to link Google and Microsoft accounts with your eKool accounts. This approach will allow for seamless login experiences while maintaining our platform’s security and accessibility standards. Additionally, we will be implementing Passkey Authentication, a state-of-the-art, passwordless authentication method that is becoming increasingly popular for its security and ease of use. We draw attention that we will not proceed with disabling Smart-ID and Mobile-ID login options until we have thoroughly validated user accounts and ensured the availability of new, convenient alternatives. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for all users, maintaining the security and accessibility of our platform.
